6TH BIFF DR KAMAL HAASSAN TO INAUGURATE

The 6th annual Bengaluru Intenrational Film Festival will be flagged off by Dr Kamal Haasan on 26th of December in Bangalore. THe Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah addressing the media on Sunday morning disclosed that the government has come forward to give Rs.2 crores for the eight days event.
 
At the 6th BIFFE nearly 145 films from 45 countries will have 245 shows in various venues for the people of one crore and above people of Bengaluru.
 
Karnataka government, Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy, Suchitra Film Society and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce joint organising of the event is open for registration from December 2. For general public it is Rs.500 as pass for all the days and for students it is Rs.250.
 
Renowned filmmakers such as Andrzej Wajda, Asghar Farhadi, Istvan Szabo, Francois Ozon, Susan Blier, Goran Paskaljevic, Mike Leigh, Claire Denis and Thomas Vinterberg films are to be screened.

Main highlight is the presentation of a bunch of highly-acclaimed Asian films from China, Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, Phillippines, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Indonesia," they said. Fourteen of the films selected had been entries for the 86th Academy Award for Best Foreign Language film (Oscar).

Collection of films that have won awards at major international film festival such as Berlin, Cannes, Karlovy Vary, Moscow, Venice and Toronto would be available. A separate competition section for Asian, Indian and Kannada cinema with cash prize is also part of the event.

The screening of films will be at Badami House, Fun Cinema, Lido, Information Department as of now.
